Main Responsibilities:

The Role
Our Client is seeking an experienced software developer to join
our technology team in Frankfurt. This will be an enjoyable and demanding
role where you will be able to deploy your skills across a wide and
varied range of tasks. The major tasks we would expect you to undertake
are:

Our Requirements
You will need the following set of qualifications and skills:

Dipl. Informatiker (FH/Univ.) or comparable qualification

etc)
The following skills are desirable but we will consider

Systems Administrator Position Description

Our Client is a market maker and proprietary trader of exchange
listed options, futures and equities in the US, Europe, and Korea.
They also have a US proprietary trading arcade and provide direct
market access to a limited group of sophisticated end users.
Technology is the core of its business. It is developed and managed
through Error Free Software LLC. They have a real-time distributed
data base that allow for instantaneous and simultaneous pricing of
all exchange listed derivatives and spreads.
Their technology is built on Sun and Intel hardware operating in
a UNIX/Linux environment. Virtually all of our software is internally
developed for speed and efficiency using C, C++ and Perl.
Our Client has three primary technology groups: System Administration,
System Engineering and Application Development.
Primary Purpose of the Position:
The primary focus of this position is the operational support of
multiple, in-house and remote, proprietary trading environments.
The second focus involves performance monitoring and analysis of
the aforementioned environments and the development of improved monitoring
methodologies, tools, and systems reporting processes.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities of Position:

Primary Purpose of the Position:
The Unix/Linux system environment is the backbone of our infrastructure;
all of the trading applications run on Unix/Linux machines. This
Group is responsible for all of the hardware changes that are made
to the system. Fallback plans need to be developed in the event that
these changes have a negative impact on our environment. SQL databases
are a growing asset to their production environment. All of their
mySQL database requests and needs are addressed by this Group. This
includes the day-to-day monitoring and maintenance of our Client
multiple mySQL servers. Another important responsibility is production
backups. Between hardware failures and the occasional loss of production
files, a reliable source from which necessary files can be recovered
is needed. The following list is a more detailed description
of responsibilities:

Maintains and monitors the backup environment.

Implements release, and fallback plans for hardware installations
and failures.

Responsible for the technical preparations and hardware installation
plans.

Using approved systems tools, is responsible to monitor hardware/systems/inter-office
connectivity availability to minimize system failures and down
time.

Keeps Disaster Recovery Plans current and tests them every 6
months.

Is the primary contact with 3rd party vendors for Operation
problems resolution.

Notifies Users and other EFS Groups when hardware is installed
and ready to be configured.

Provides Users and developers with access to disk backups.

Maintains internal web servers.

Designs and maintains mySQL Databases.

Deployment, maintenance, and monitoring of Linux and Solaris
servers.

Maintains development environment which includes servers, workstations
and the requisite software environment needed to build Archelon
applications.
