Network/Systems Engineer (m/f)

We are searching a Network / Systems Engineer for our Frankfurt office.

Main Responsibilities:

Assist the Network/Systems Administrator in supporting the company's networked systems, at On/Off site locations
Diagnoses and resolves Server/Desktop problems
Diagnoses and resolves LAN/WAN problems
Monitor performance of networks and servers to identify potential problems and bottlenecks
Assist in supporting company staff

Key skills required:

Microsoft Active Directory and Windows Server Administration:
Server 2000/2003 - Web/Standard/Enterprise
Microsoft Exchange Administration: Exchange 2003/2007
Excellent knowledge of all Microsoft Windows Operating Systems: XP/Vista/NT/2000/2003
Excellent knowledge of all Microsoft Office Products: 2000/2003/2007
In depth knowledge of TCP/IP, Routing, Switching:
- Cisco Routers - *Must have configured, installed and maintained within a production environment*
- HP Switches (Edge/Core)
In depth knowledge of VPN/Firewall/Security: Cisco PIX/ASA - Version 7.0 or higher *Must have configured, installed and maintained within a production environment,
Experience in troubleshooting and problem solving,
Experience of network building and implementation,
Flexible / creative with solutions,
Excellent English language (preferably),
Good communications skills

Software Developer C++ (m/f)

The Role

Our Client is seeking an experienced software developer to join our technology team in Frankfurt. This will be an enjoyable and demanding role where you will be able to deploy your skills across a wide and varied range of tasks. The major tasks we would expect you to undertake are:

Data feed integration in our ticker plant
Development of in house monitoring and operational tools
Front end software development

Our Requirements

You will need the following set of qualifications and skills:

Dipl. Informatiker (FH/Univ.) or comparable qualification
Experienced in C/C++ development with MS VC and .NET
Experience of development on Windows platforms
Experienced with current communication protocols (TCP, HTTP etc)

The following skills are desirable but we will consider candidates who do not possess these capabilities:

Experienced with HTML, XML and SQL.
Experience with Java, C#
Experience with Non-Windows platforms (Linux,.)
Familiar with real time data feeds and financial information
Due to the nature of our business, we will need someone fluent in English (both written and spoken).

Your profile:

Systems Administrator Position Description

Our Client is a market maker and proprietary trader of exchange listed options, futures and equities in the US, Europe, and Korea. They also have a US proprietary trading arcade and provide direct market access to a limited group of sophisticated end users.

Technology is the core of its business. It is developed and managed through Error Free Software LLC. They have a real-time distributed data base that allow for instantaneous and simultaneous pricing of all exchange listed derivatives and spreads.

Their technology is built on Sun and Intel hardware operating in a UNIX/Linux environment. Virtually all of our software is internally developed for speed and efficiency using C, C++ and Perl.

Our Client has three primary technology groups: System Administration, System Engineering and Application Development.

Primary Purpose of the Position:

The primary focus of this position is the operational support of multiple, in-house and remote, proprietary trading environments. The second focus involves performance monitoring and analysis of the aforementioned environments and the development of improved monitoring methodologies, tools, and systems reporting processes.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities of Position:

To provide first level technical support for trading staff
To communicate systems related issues to trading staff
To understand the architecture of the trading environment
To manage the startup of the trading environment
To monitor the trading environment and identify and report system failures and inefficiencies
To understand the purpose of the applications used by the trading staff
To understand how these applications are accessed by the trading staff
To understand the communications needs and expected behavior of these applications
To troubleshoot and resolve unexpected application or system behavior
To recommend improvements to facilitate better management and monitoring of the environment.

Requirements:

BS in Computer Science or 2 to 3 years work experience as a UNIX systems administrator

Unix / Linux Administrator Position Description

Reports to: Manager, Operations

Primary Purpose of the Position:

The Unix/Linux system environment is the backbone of our infrastructure; all of the trading applications run on Unix/Linux machines. This Group is responsible for all of the hardware changes that are made to the system. Fallback plans need to be developed in the event that these changes have a negative impact on our environment. SQL databases are a growing asset to their production environment. All of their mySQL database requests and needs are addressed by this Group. This includes the day-to-day monitoring and maintenance of our Client multiple mySQL servers. Another important responsibility is production backups. Between hardware failures and the occasional loss of production files, a reliable source from which necessary files can be recovered is needed. The following list is a more detailed description of responsibilities:

Maintains and monitors the backup environment.
Implements release, and fallback plans for hardware installations and failures.
Responsible for the technical preparations and hardware installation plans.
Using approved systems tools, is responsible to monitor hardware/systems/inter-office connectivity availability to minimize system failures and down time.
Keeps Disaster Recovery Plans current and tests them every 6 months.
Is the primary contact with 3rd party vendors for Operation problems resolution.
Notifies Users and other EFS Groups when hardware is installed and ready to be configured.
Provides Users and developers with access to disk backups.
Maintains internal web servers.
Designs and maintains mySQL Databases.
Deployment, maintenance, and monitoring of Linux and Solaris servers.
Maintains development environment which includes servers, workstations and the requisite software environment needed to build Archelon applications.
Travel: minimal
Other duties as assigned by the Operations Manager.

Requirements:

BS in Computer Science or 2 to 3 years work experience as a UNIX systems administrator
Knowledge of the UNIX operating system (Solaris and Linux preferred)
mySQL admin experience including table backup/restore and manipulation
Backup systems including but not limited to amanda, rsync and rdist.
NFS general administration and performance analysis
Knowledge of the SCSI/SATA Raid systems.
Strong interpersonal skills - ability to work well with users
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Self-motivated with interest in learning new applications and systems.
